An application was moved to the Lahore High Court on Tuesday seeking directives for Pemra to ban coverage of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Safdar for their allegedly anti-judiciary speeches. Petitioner Amina Malik pleaded in an already pending petition that disqualified former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam had continuously been attacking the judges of the Supreme Court and to discredit the apex judiciary.

She said she approached PEMRA against coverage of their speeches but it did not take any action in order to address this serious and alarming issue. She asked the court to direct Pemra to suspend the licenses of those TV channels who cover the anti-judiciary speeches.
